Coffey Health System

Friends of Coffey Health System volunteers spend each October collecting donations for their annual service project. In the past 15 years, Friends of Coffey Health System have mailed 1,400 boxes to American soldiers and canine units overseas. Since 2020, the effort has been coordinated in partnership with the U.S. War Dogs Association.

A new event, "Brain Health Day," offers free appointments with KU Med staff at Coffey County Medical Center in Burlington for anyone concerned about potential dementia symptoms.

Coffey Health System is joining the global “Wave of Light” event honoring infant/child loss. Along with communities worldwide, the Coffey and Woodson County residents are invited to gather at Kelley Park in Burlington on Tuesday, October 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Candles honoring these precious lives will be lit at 7 p.m.

Coffey Health System’s 29th Women’s Health Conference is on Wednesday, October 9. The event begins with a 5:30 p.m. social hour in the Burlington High School commons area. Appetizers will be served. Presentations begin in the theater at 6:30 p.m. Read more and register online.

Coffey County Hospital Laboratory Assistant Holly Peters is a shining example of dedication in the healthcare field. Her unwavering commitment to patient care was recognized on September 5, when the Kansas Hospital Association (KHA) presented her with a 2024 Heart of Health Care Award.

Coffey County Hospital offers a new service for fitness enthusiasts and those who want to improve their overall health. Radiology Supervisor Scott Sutherland will discuss Body Composition Scanning at a Lunch & Learn presentation at noon on Friday, August 9, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. This free event begins at noon.

Coffey County Hospital earned national recognition as one of "27 Critical Access Hospitals to Know," an annual list compiled by Becker's Hospital Review. CCH is the only Kansas hospital to receive the distinction.

Being a caregiver for a loved one can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Coffey Health System now offers a special program for caregivers.

When Ed and Alice Archer moved back to rural Coffey County twenty-four years ago, it was a homecoming. Ed had taught for many years in Burlington, Humboldt, and LeRoy. The close-knit environment and community they so enjoyed became even more important when Ed developed Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). He quickly found familiar faces and names throughout Coffey Health System with former students and the children of former students.
