(Effective April 1, 2022)
As an eligible employee, you are able to enroll in medical and dental insurance at the employee cost-share rate. You are also eligible to enroll in vision and a Flex Spending Plan. Employees may elect to enroll in employee-only or family coverage. Annual open enrollment for these plans occurs in October, effective November 1st. As a new hire, the eligibility date for these plans is the first of the month following 60 days of employment. (Current carriers medical & dental carrier is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas. Vision coverage is through MetLife.)
As an eligible employee, you are able to enroll in any of the voluntary supplemental insurance plans available to the employees. Offerings include short-term disability, critical illness, ID theft & legal shield protection, accident, cancer, medical transport, and supplemental life insurance. Annual open enrollment for these plans also occurs in October, effective November 1st. Supplemental plans are not available for election at new hire.
For all eligible employees, CHS provides employer-paid life insurance, long-term disability, and an AD&D plan. The plan benefit is based on salary and becomes effective after 90 days of employment.
All CHS employees contribute to a 414(h) Plan in lieu of the Social Security retirement plan, meaning that CHS is not a part of the Social Security benefit program. Instead, CHS puts an amount equal to 7% of your salary into the plan and the employee is required to contribute 4%. This equals an investment of 11% of your salary and you are 100% vested in these funds from day one. You direct how and which funds, within the plan, are invested. You can also choose to contribute more than the employee base of 4% into a 457 Plan, but there is not an employee match option with this additional plan.
As a new hire, the current accrual of DL (paid time off) is at a rate of .09615 per straight time hours worked. The maximum potential DL hours earned, based on 2,080 annual worked hours, is 200. This will increase after the third completed year of service. DL is available to utilize for vacation, holidays, and sick leave the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
