Fitzsimons Mural Honors Burlington Native
First Lt. William Fitzsimons is honored with a mural on our CHS Rehabilitation and Wellness facility (409 Cross St. in Burlington). Born in Burlington on April 18, 1889, he grew up here and became a surgeon. He was among the first to volunteer when hostilities broke out in Europe. On September 4, 1917, First Lt. William T. Fitzsimons entered U.S. history as the first American officer killed in World War I.
