A Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) joins patients and families with members of the healthcare team to provide guidance on how to improve the patient and family experience. Through their unique perspectives, they give input on issues that impact care, ensuring that the next patient or family member's journey is easier.
How does a PFAC work?
Standard PFAC structure dictates that the patient and family members out-number staff.
Each PFAC is led by co-chairs, including a Patient/Family Advisor and 1-2 Coffey County Hospital clinical/administrative leader(s).
After your application is received, there will be a short introductory meeting about Patient and Family Advisory Councils. If you are selected to be a member of the Council, regular scheduled meetings are held monthly for approximately two hours.
Each PFAC is composed of staff and community members.
The role of advisors is to provide feedback regarding projects, initiatives, experiences and philosophies within Coffey County Hospital. The role of staff is to help guide advisors on topics and approaches that will have the greatest impact.
